The head of Hong Kong’s Logistics Department, Carlson Chan Ka-shun, who has been embroiled in a water procurement scandal, has begun his pre-retirement leave.

According to the latest government gazette, Carlson Chan ceased to be the director of the Government Logistics Department on Friday as he started this period of leave.

Following his departure, his former deputy, Avia Lai Wong Shuk-han, has been appointed as the acting director of the department.

Last month, the government became embroiled in a bottled water procurement scandal, which has since attracted public attention and scrutiny.
