The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has recently issued a stringent advisory aimed at pet dog owners, urging them to obtain valid licenses, ensure timely vaccinations, and strictly adhere to safety guidelines when taking their pets outdoors.

Since 2006, NMMC has been operating a Dog Control Centre at Turbhe, which focuses on sterilization surgeries and vaccination drives for stray dogs under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme.

Officials have cautioned that these breeds, if left unattended in public spaces, could pose serious threats to public safety.

To ensure public safety, the following guidelines have been mandated:

– Dogs should be kept on a leash when taken outdoors.
– Dogs must be fitted with a muzzle in a safe manner to prevent potential attacks.
– Owners are required to carry scoops or appropriate cleaning tools to clean up after their pets.
