**Rahul Gandhi Reiterates Vote Fraud Allegations Against Election Commission; Manan Kumar Mishra Calls Them Baseless**
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reiterated his allegations of vote fraud against the Election Commission of India. However, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Manan Kumar Mishra strongly refuted these claims, stating that Gandhi has no evidence to support his accusations. According to news agency ANI, Mishra accused Gandhi of misleading the public by making unfounded allegations against a constitutional body.
Speaking to the media, Mishra said, “The result of the whole press conference was nothing. There is no evidence. Rahul Gandhi always talks nonsense. The public will not be affected by this. There is no evidence of how the software was manipulated. He is placing oral allegations. There is no importance of that in the eyes of the law. The public knows he has no evidence; that is why he is putting allegations on a constitutional body like the Election Commission.”
Earlier in the day, the senior Congress leader criticized the Election Commission for allegedly “not cooperating” with the voter fraud investigation conducted by the Karnataka Crime Investigation Department (Karnataka CID) in the Aland Assembly segment of Kalaburagi district, ANI reported. Gandhi claimed that the probe has been stalled for over two years because the poll body has not responded to letters sent by the CID. He described this lack of cooperation as “proof” that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is “protecting vote chors (vote thieves).”
In response, the Election Commission dismissed all allegations made by Gandhi as incorrect and baseless. The commission clarified that no voter names can be deleted online by any member of the public. In its official reply to the Lok Sabha MP, the commission stated, “Allegations made by Rahul Gandhi are incorrect and baseless. No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Rahul Gandhi. No deletion can take place without giving an opportunity to be heard to the affected person.”
Furthermore, the Election Commission emphasized that the accusations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar are without merit and unfounded.
