MANILA, Philippines — Gabi Garcia fired seven aces for 26 points to lead the USA past gritty Slovenia in an intense match at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship quarterfinals on Monday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Despite being a first-time World Championship campaigner, Garcia rose to the occasion, delivering an impressive performance that included 15 kills and seven aces. The USA secured the victory in four sets with scores of 19-25, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-20, advancing further into the tournament.
