Pakistan’s Nashra Sandhu has made history by becoming the first Asian left-arm spinner to claim a six-wicket haul in a Women’s One Day International (WODI). She accomplished this remarkable feat during the third and final ODI against South Africa on September 22, held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

### Historic Performance

Sandhu’s outstanding bowling helped Pakistan bowl out South Africa for just 115 runs in 25.5 overs after being asked to bowl first. Pakistan went on to secure a six-wicket victory, with Sandhu’s heroics playing a crucial role.

### Breaking Records

With her bowling figures of 9-2-26-6, Sandhu not only guided her team to a commanding win but also smashed the previous record held by India’s Ekta Bisht for the best bowling figures by an Asian left-arm spinner in Women’s ODIs. Bisht’s record of 5/8 had been set against Pakistan during the 2017 World Cup Qualifier in Colombo, according to ESPNcricinfo.

This milestone comes just ahead of the Women’s World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka beginning November 30.

### A Masterclass in Spin Bowling

Sandhu’s spell was a textbook display of spin bowling mastery. She opened her account by dismissing South African batter Sune Luus, caught by Diana Baig. Following that, she clean-bowled Miane Smit with a perfectly timed delivery.

Her victims also included Sinalo Jafta, who was trapped LBW after being deceived by subtle variations, and Anneke Bosch, who was caught off a cleverly flighted ball.

### Tactical Brilliance

Sandhu’s tactical intelligence was evident throughout her bowling performance. Her precise control over line, length, and spin kept the opposition under constant pressure. By skillfully mixing flight and turn, she forced batters into making mistakes, underscoring her flawless execution and cricketing acumen.

### Pakistani Bowling Legacy

Sandhu now holds the record for the best bowling figures by a left-arm spinner in WODIs. The only other Pakistani woman to have taken more than five wickets in a WODI is Sajjida Shah, who took 7/4 against Japan back in 2003.

With this historic achievement, Nashra Sandhu has firmly established herself as a key player to watch in the upcoming Women’s World Cup.
