**Delhi Metro Launches Campaign to Curb Social Media Filming on Trains**
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated a new campaign aimed at discouraging commuters from creating social media content, such as reels, inside metro trains. Launched on September 14, this campaign will be implemented across the entire metro network throughout the week, according to a DMRC official quoted by Hindustan Times.
**Passenger Experience: Measures to Improve Comfort**
Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, explained that these measures are designed to enhance passenger comfort. He stated, “This step has been taken to ensure that fellow passengers are not inconvenienced due to such activity.”
The campaign features in-train announcements in both English and Hindi, warning passengers against recording reels or playing loud music inside coaches. These new directives complement existing rules such as prohibitions on sitting on the floor or eating inside metro coaches.
**Legal Framework: What the Law Says**
While the Metro Railways Act, 2002 does not explicitly ban shooting reels on metro property, it allows for fines to be imposed on individuals “creating a nuisance.” This provision covers disruptive behaviors inside metro stations and coaches.
The decision to broadcast these in-train announcements comes amid increasing reports of the Delhi Metro becoming a popular location for filming video content, which at times causes inconvenience to other commuters.
**Enforcement Challenges**
In 2023, DMRC instructed its flying squads—originally tasked with preventing men from entering women-only coaches—to also monitor and regulate commuters who are producing objectionable content inside trains, as reported by The Times of India.
In a notable enforcement action, a 25-year-old was arrested in April this year for allegedly consuming alcohol inside a metro coach, highlighting DMRC’s efforts to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all passengers.
As Delhi Metro continues to grow in popularity, these measures aim to balance the enthusiasm for social media content creation with the overall commuter experience.
