In a compassionate move to support those affected by the devastating floods in Maharashtra, primary teachers across the state have decided to donate one day’s salary to aid relief efforts.
Various parts of Maharashtra have faced severe destruction as heavy rains damaged infrastructure and majorly affected agricultural activities. The situation across the state has been concerning since then, with unseasonal rains devastating several rural areas. Farmlands have been washed away, and crops destroyed on a large scale.
In view of contributing to the relief efforts, the Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Central Association has announced that it will donate one day’s salary. The association, led by General Secretary Rajesh Surve and State President Shri Keshavrao Jadhav, formally conveyed this decision in a statement submitted to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and School Education Minister.
Furthermore, the association urged that the collected funds be utilized directly for the welfare of flood victims through the state government.
Responding to this heartfelt gesture, School Education Minister Hon. Dadaji Bhuse expressed deep gratitude towards the teaching community. He said, “The teaching staff always comes to the rescue in difficult times in society. This contribution of teachers is definitely inspiring.”

**Raj Thackeray Writes Letter to CM Fadnavis Regarding Maharashtra Floods**
Earlier on Wednesday, MNS chief Raj Thackeray also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister urging immediate action to support farmers who have suffered heavy losses due to continuous and extreme rainfall in parts of the state.
While addressing the Chief Minister, Raj Thackeray highlighted that the unseasonal rains, which began in mid-May, have devastated several parts of rural Maharashtra. In his letter, he demanded that the state government announce a state-wide “wet drought” status without imposing strict eligibility criteria.
Raj Thackeray criticized the current compensation of Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 per acre as inadequate and demanded a minimum compensation of Rs 30,000 per acre, stating that it will take at least a year for farmers to recover.
Concluding his statement, the MNS chief asserted that ministers should not travel to Delhi only for political issues but also for the welfare of the state.
