**RTO Conducts Vehicle Fitness Inspection at Schools and College in Indore, Collects Rs 40,000 in Fines**

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): As part of an ongoing special drive to strengthen road safety and ensure compliance with transport laws, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) team inspected vehicles at two schools and one college near Bypass Road on Friday.

Led by Regional Transport Officer Pradeep Kumar Sharma, along with ARTO Archana Mishra, ARTO Rajesh Gupta, and RTO staff, the team checked the fitness of the institutions’ vehicles. The initiative is part of a statewide campaign that began on September 22.

During the inspection, six school vehicles were found violating safety norms. The issues identified included jammed emergency exits, non-functional fire extinguishers, poorly maintained first-aid kits, damaged floor areas, and general lack of proper maintenance. As a result, the fitness certificates of these vehicles were immediately cancelled.

In addition, four buses operating without valid permits were seized on the spot. The officials collected a total fine of Rs 40,000 under various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

On a positive note, the inspection found that the bus service of one school was fully compliant with all rules and regulations. The school management received appreciation for maintaining high standards of vehicle fitness and safety.

At the college premises, however, the team discovered 12 buses abandoned in poor condition. The college management was instructed to cancel the registration of these vehicles to avoid future violations.

The inspection team also interacted with students and gathered their feedback. Following the drive, all schools and institutions have been directed to operate only fully fit vehicles with valid and up-to-date documents to ensure the safety of students during commute.

The RTO continues to emphasize strict adherence to transport laws to promote safer roads across Madhya Pradesh.
