Gardai have launched an investigation into a suspected murder-suicide after two bodies were discovered at a property in Co Dublin.

The bodies of a man and a young girl were found at a house in the Heathfield estate in the Cappagh area of Finglas, north Dublin, at around 8pm on Saturday evening.

The location has been preserved to allow the Garda Technical Bureau to carry out a forensic examination of the scene. The two bodies currently remain at the scene, pending a preliminary technical examination. They will be removed for a post-mortem examination in due course.

The Coroner has been notified, and gardai have also requested the services of the Office of the State Pathologist.

Gardai have stated that they are “investigating all the circumstances surrounding” the discovery of the two bodies.

In a statement to the Irish Mirror, a Garda spokesperson said:
“Gardai are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two bodies at a domestic residence in Finglas, Dublin, on Saturday, 27th September 2025. Gardai and emergency services were called to the residence in the Cappagh area shortly before 8:00pm.

The bodies of the deceased, an adult male and a female child, remain at the scene. The location has been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The Coroner has been notified and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
