The Bengaluru Police City Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Wing detained three foreign nationals on September 25, who entered India in 2024 without proper documentation and have been residing in the country since then, police officials said.
According to the police, on September 25, 2025, officers of the CCB Narcotics Wing received credible information from an informant about three foreign nationals illegally staying in an apartment within the Devanahalli Police Station limits. Acting on this tip-off, a case was registered at the CCB Police Station. The team promptly raided the location mentioned by the informant and apprehended the three individuals.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had illegally entered India in 2024 without passports or visas. They traveled by boat from Jaffna, Sri Lanka, to Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. Subsequently, with the assistance of another foreign national, they settled in an apartment within the Devanahalli Police Station jurisdiction.
Cases have been registered against them under the Foreigners Act at the CCB Police Station. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the reasons for their illegal stay in Bengaluru.
In a related development, a team from the Operations Cell, South West District, detained two illegal Bangladeshi migrants who had been living in India without valid visa documents for the past two years, police said on Monday.
The detainees were identified as Md. Abdulaziz Mian (46), a resident of Sakhipur, Tangail district, Bangladesh, and Md. Rafiqul Islam (29), a resident of Kaliganj, Gazipur district, Bangladesh.
The police statement explained, “During the exercise, secret information was received regarding an illegal Bangladeshi migrant seeking accommodation in the Mahipalpur area. Acting promptly, the team reached the spot, identified the two suspects with the help of the informer, and conducted a thorough enquiry. When asked for valid visas and travel documents, both individuals failed to produce any and admitted that they had entered India about two years ago but overstayed after their visas expired.”
After verifying their identities, deportation proceedings were initiated with the assistance of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in New Delhi, following the completion of all codal formalities.
Police emphasized that this operation reflects the South West District Police’s zero-tolerance approach towards illegal immigration.
