Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, has announced that his party will contest all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Making a bold prediction, Kishor stated, “Jan Suraaj Party will either be first or last, but there is no middle ground in this election.”
### Election Forecast
Kishor foresees some significant shifts in the Bihar political landscape. He predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will face notable setbacks in the elections. Additionally, he said the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)], led by Nitish Kumar, is expected to see its seat count decrease drastically—from 43 seats in 2020 to less than 25 this time.
According to Kishor, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which emerged as the single-largest party with 75 seats in 2020, will finish third in the upcoming polls.
### Allegations of Corruption
Taking a swipe at JD(U) leader Ashok Choudhary, Kishor accused him of corruption worth ₹200 crore. He questioned Choudhary’s decision to purchase land in his personal assistant’s name, suggesting that it indicates his disregard for the law.
He also claimed that Nitish Kumar is losing control over Bihar’s administration, stating, “Nitish Kumar may not be a bad person, but leaders and officers around him are looting.”
### Criticism of Government Schemes
Kishor dismissed the Bihar government’s recent scheme that transfers ₹10,000 to women’s bank accounts, calling it a “simple bribe” rather than a genuine game-changer. The scheme, Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and aims to benefit 75 lakh women across the state.
Further alleging compromised governance, Kishor pointed to corruption and crime linked to political figures, citing murder charges against leaders like Samrat Chaudhary and Dilip Jaiswal as examples of systemic issues within the administration.
