Nicki Minaj has shared her opinion on Taylor Swift’s alleged dig at Charli XCX on her new record, RadarOnline.com can reveal.
On Charli’s massive 2024 album Brat, there is a song titled Everything Is Romantic. Swift’s use of the same phrase in her own track immediately raised eyebrows upon its release.
Taylor Swift’s Alleged Diss to Charli XCX
Swift’s track opens with the line, “I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave.” Fans quickly interpreted this as a direct reference to Charli, who has been open about drug use in her lyrics. For instance, on Charli’s song 365, she sings, “Should we do a little key? Should we have a little line?” She also repeatedly mentions “bumpin’ that,” which appears to allude to snorting cocaine.
Swift continues with, “High fived my ex and then you said you’re glad he ghosted me,” further fueling speculation about the target of her lyrics.
Nicki Minaj Weighs in on Taylor Swift’s Alleged Diss Track About Charli XCX
Taking to X, Nicki Minaj posted the lyrics and wrote, “Why all the SAG’s giving out lashings tonight? Oh wow.” Adding a smiley face emoji, Minaj also commented, “#Cancelled is diabolical. Let’s go TAYLOR!!!!!!”
“Go in for the kill, Taylor,” she added in another post. “Let’s go!!!!”
Speculation Surrounding Charli XCX’s 2024 Album
Before her engagement to Travis Kelce, Swift dated The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. Charli’s husband, George Daniel, is also a member of The 1975, meaning Charli is often around Healy. While Charli opened for Swift on her Reputation Tour in 2018 and even appeared alongside her to perform Shake It Off, their friendship appears to have shifted due to Charli’s growing closeness with Healy.
When Charli released Brat, there was speculation that the lyric in Sympathy Is a Knife—“This one girl taps my insecurities, don’t know if it’s real or I’m spiraling”—was about Swift.
Charli XCX Dispels Rumors Her Song Was a Diss
In May 2024, Charli took to TikTok to dispel these rumors, saying, “I’m seeing online that some people think there are diss tracks on Brat and I just wanted to come on here and clarify that there aren’t – apart from maybe Von Dutch, which kind of is – but the other tracks in question aren’t diss tracks.”
She elaborated, “They’re really just about how it’s so complicated being an artist, especially a female artist, where you are pitted against your peers but also expected to be best friends with every single person, constantly.”
To date, neither Taylor Swift nor Charli XCX has publicly commented on the alleged diss track.
