Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been in sensational form with the bat in Test cricket throughout 2025. Continuing his impressive run, Jadeja scored a stunning century in the first Test between India and the West Indies at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. His unbeaten 104-run knock was instrumental as India declared their innings at 448/5 in response to West Indies’ first innings total of 162 all out.
### A Stellar Knock in Ahmedabad
Jadeja came to the crease following KL Rahul’s dismissal at 218 for 4 and quickly established a commanding partnership with Dhruv Jurel. Together, they added 206 runs for the fifth wicket. While Jurel played fluently, scoring 125 off 176 balls with 15 fours and three sixes, it was Jadeja’s aggressive yet controlled batting that maintained India’s dominance.
In his unbeaten 104, Jadeja perfectly balanced defense and aggression, particularly excelling against spinner bowling. During his 176-ball stay at the crease, he struck six fours and five sixes, ensuring India built a strong commanding lead.
### Second-Most Runs in Tests in 2025
Playing his seventh Test of the year, Jadeja has amassed an incredible 659 runs across 13 innings at an outstanding average of 82.37. This tally includes two centuries and seven half-centuries. According to ESPNcricinfo, seven of Jadeja’s 50-plus scores this year have come in his last nine Test innings—a testament to his consistency and form.
In terms of runs scored in Tests during 2025, Jadeja ranks just behind Indian captain Shubman Gill, who leads with 837 runs. No other batsman with at least 600 runs this year has managed to keep an average above 70.
### Jadeja’s Best Year in Test Cricket
Since making his Test debut in 2012, Jadeja has never scored over 600 runs in a single calendar year—until now. Additionally, no previous year saw him record as many as six 50-plus scores. The only other year where he managed multiple Test centuries was 2022, making 2025 his best year with the bat so far.
### Record-Breaking Performances in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
Jadeja was on fire during the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against England, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Over five Tests (10 innings), he scored a phenomenal 516 runs at an average of 86. This included one century and five fifties. Impressively, he equaled the record for the most 50-plus scores at No. 6 or lower by any batsman in an away Test series—six.
### More Milestones in England
Jadeja not only set the record for the most 50-plus scores by an Indian in a Test series in England (six), but also became the first Indian to score over 500 runs in a Test series while batting at six or lower. Overall, he ranked third for the most runs scored at No. 6 or lower in an away Test series.
### Approaching the 4,000 Runs and 300 Wickets Milestone
In his 86th Test appearance, Jadeja has now accumulated 3,990 runs at an average of 38.73, which includes six centuries and 27 half-centuries. The 36-year-old all-rounder is just 10 runs shy of becoming only the fourth cricketer in history to score 4,000 Test runs and take over 300 wickets.
During his latest innings, Jadeja also became the fourth Indian to complete 80 sixes in Test cricket, joining the elite company of Virender Sehwag (90), Rishabh Pant (90), and Rohit Sharma (88).
