Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has addressed recent criticism from club legend Wayne Rooney, openly acknowledging his poor record and suggesting it is “normal” for former players to voice concerns during challenging times.

Rooney, United’s all-time leading goalscorer, had expressed his disappointment on his BBC podcast, saying that “the soul has gone” from the club. Under Amorim’s management, Manchester United have managed just 18 wins in 49 matches across all competitions, reflecting a tough period for the Red Devils.

**Coach’s Reaction: “You Can’t Run Away From the Results”**

Speaking during a press conference in response to Rooney’s comments, Amorim said, “It is normal. You can’t run away from the results.” He also referred to the baggage carried over from last season but downplayed its significance, adding, “[although] last season for me doesn’t matter.”

Despite a disappointing 15th-place finish last season and a Europa League final loss, many United fans had expressed continued faith in Amorim, hopeful that this season would bring improvement.

**Season Outlook: “It Is the Time to Show”**

Amorim had promised supporters that with more time and no midweek European fixtures, the team’s performances would improve this season. However, the first six Premier League games have not gone as planned. United currently sit 14th in the table, with two wins, one draw, and three defeats — including a recent loss to Brentford.

When asked what assurances he could give fans, Amorim replied, “It’s not the time to say, it is the time to show,” emphasizing his focus on results over words.

**Current Situation**

– Manchester United are 14th in the Premier League after six games
– Record so far: 2 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses
– The team has yet to keep a clean sheet this season
– Recent defeat to Brentford highlights ongoing challenges

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Amorim and Manchester United to see if they can turn their form around and regain the pride Rooney laments has been lost.
