Tonight on The Stevetendo Show, we’re diving back into our playthrough of *The Messenger*. This game feels like a blend of old-school platforming classics like *Ninja Gaiden*, combined with Metroidvania elements that add depth and exploration.
As this is my first time playing *The Messenger*, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far. One of my favorite gameplay mechanics is the ability to switch between 8-bit and 16-bit graphics, which not only looks fantastic but also adds a unique twist to the gameplay. However, one downside I’ve noticed is the inability to attack upwards, which can be a bit frustrating at times.
In the last episode, we managed to find more music notes required to unlock the music box inside the Tower of Time. Tracking down these keys has proven to be quite challenging, but fortunately, we can save up currency and pay for hints to their locations — a welcome relief!
It feels like we’re getting close to wrapping up *The Messenger*, though I’ve learned not to count on that too much based on past playthrough experiences.

Since we’re almost done with both *Donkey Kong Bananza* and *The Messenger*, expect new playthroughs to start up on the show soon. If we finish *The Messenger* this evening, I’ll share my thoughts on the game and discuss what might replace it in The Stevetendo Show rotation.
Keep sending in your ideas for games you’d love to see featured. If it’s available on the Nintendo Switch 2 or the Nintendo Switch 2 Online service, it could be a candidate for an upcoming episode. Nintendo often adds new titles to the Switch Online service, so stay tuned!
Thanks for following along, and I look forward to seeing you tonight on The Stevetendo Show!
