Dinesh Vijan has emerged as one of the most successful producers in the Indian film industry in the post-COVID era, achieving remarkable success with mid-budget films that do not rely on big stars. The upcoming Diwali 2025 release, *Thamma*, is a highly anticipated follow-up to his Independence Day 2024 blockbuster *Stree 2*.
Reliable sources have confirmed that *Thamma* is the most expensive film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe to date. According to Bollywood Hungama, “Thamma is the most expensive and ambitious film of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Featuring VFX companies of international acclaim, the final budget of *Thamma* is estimated at around Rs. 125 crores, excluding print and publicity costs, which are projected to be approximately Rs. 20 crores. Thus, the total landing cost of *Thamma* stands at around Rs. 145 crores.”
This new budget surpasses that of *Stree 2* and highlights the scale of Dinesh Vijan’s investment in the project. “*Stree 2* was produced on a budget of Rs. 125 crores including print and publicity. *Thamma’s* budget exceeds this by nearly Rs. 20 crores. Producer Dinesh Vijan is banking on stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna to draw audiences to theatres. He firmly believes in the power of content, which has motivated him to invest heavily in this film. Now, he is placing his hopes on the lead actors to pull in the crowd on opening day,” the source added.
This is not the first time Dinesh Vijan has taken big risks with his productions. Previously, he produced *Chhaava* starring Vicky Kaushal, which many considered a risky business decision. However, the film proved successful, both critically and commercially, boosting Vicky’s career. Building on that confidence, Vijan is optimistic that *Thamma* and its lead actors will deliver another Diwali hit, especially as the film carries the distinction of being his most prestigious entry in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.
*Thamma* is scheduled for release on 21st October 2025. Distributors have already requested that the film receive 70 percent of the total screenings across India, reflecting strong confidence in its box office potential.
