Mesa 25.2.5 would normally be just another small point-release bug fix, but this time it’s a little extra special for Intel GPU owners on Linux.

A recent merge request, accepted and pulled into Mesa on October 13th by developer Sagar Ghuge, reverted a previous piece of code that was causing significant issues for newer Intel GPU users. This change addresses several graphical problems that had been reported in games such as Age of Wonders 4, Dirt Rally 2.0, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and more.

It took some effort to track down the root cause, but with this fix now implemented, gaming on Linux with newer Intel GPUs should be a much smoother experience.

Just take a look at how problematic Age of Wonders 4 was running on an Intel Arc B580 prior to this fix:
