ARCADIA, Calif. (KABC) — A jewelry store in Arcadia was left severely damaged after being ransacked during an overnight burglary. L & Z Jewelry now has a gaping hole in its ceiling, and a search is underway to find those responsible.

The owners, Feihong and Pi Pi, told Eyewitness News they are still trying to figure out how to move forward and seek any available assistance.

“The morning when I opened the door, I could not believe everything was gone,” said owner Pi Pi.

The break-in occurred on Saturday. Surveillance video from inside the shop shows nearly every case and display wiped clean, with all valuable pieces of gold and diamond jewelry stolen. The owners believe the burglar entered through the roof, as evidenced by the damaged ceiling.

In addition to the hole in the ceiling, a wall near a safe was also badly damaged. The crook not only took everything inside but also disabled the store’s internet and alarm system.

“They are really professional. After they got into this room, they broke the alarm system,” Feihong explained.

Despite the setback, the owners plan to keep the store open and focus on selling costume jewelry. Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the crime.

The owners now face the challenge of surviving this loss and finding a way to refund customers who had made payments on the stolen jewelry.

“I just want to ask them, ‘Why did you do that?’ We’re working so hard. It’s easy to take everything from us,” Pi Pi said.

L & Z Jewelry’s owners also want to raise awareness among other businesses so they can take necessary precautions to protect themselves from similar incidents.
