An Ohio man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 5-month-old daughter, according to prosecutors.
Glenn McIntosh, 32, allegedly killed the infant, Ameira Reynolds, while her mother was out with her other children. The couple had only been dating for about three months.
Prosecutors say McIntosh was living with Ameira’s mother on the 4000 block of Willard Brook Road in Madison Township. He was reportedly left alone with the baby when Ameira’s mother went out for about an hour with her two other children.
When the mother returned home, McIntosh had fled the residence and was unresponsive to her calls and texts.
“Upon further observation, the baby was limp,” Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Shania Goble said during McIntosh’s bond hearing. The mother rushed Ameira to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Doctors found Ameira had suffered skull fractures and multiple injuries indicative of blunt force trauma. McIntosh later texted the mother, claiming the baby had fallen, but investigators say the injuries were inconsistent with that explanation.
“You asked me to trust you and I trusted you with my baby, and you took her from me,” Ameira’s mother said in a statement read by prosecutors. “You killed my baby girl. My baby didn’t deserve that. I can’t imagine what you put her through.”
In a heartbreaking message on a GoFundMe page, the grieving mother described Ameira as “my sweet Angel” and asked for help to “bring my baby to Glory.” She said, “A mother is never prepared to bury her child.”
McIntosh was ordered held on a $2 million bond and remains in custody at the Franklin County jail.
This tragic case highlights the dangers faced by vulnerable children, and law enforcement continues to seek justice for little Ameira and her devastated family.
