A wild high-speed crash just off the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn late Sunday left two people dead, with one of the drivers fleeing the scene, police said.
The two drivers—one in a white Mercedes-Benz and the other riding a black motorcycle—were heading toward exit 7B on the westbound highway when they veered off at a “high rate of speed” and lost control at Shore Parkway and East 7th Street in Sheepshead Bay around 11:30 p.m., authorities and sources reported.
Both vehicles careened into three parked cars before the Mercedes driver jumped out of his sedan and ran away, leaving his gravely injured front-seat passenger behind, police said.
Photos from the scene show the totaled Benz flipped over on its hood in the middle of the intersection.
The 28-year-old passenger was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he later died, cops confirmed. The 22-year-old motorcycle driver was also taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The victims’ names have not been officially released pending family notification. Meanwhile, the Benz driver remained at large hours after the crash, according to police.
