Grimes Unveils New Face Tattoo After a Decade of Emotional Preparation
Grimes recently revealed a new face tattoo, a bold addition to her extensive collection of body art. Surprisingly, even her parents didn’t notice the new ink right away. The musician, known for her adventurous style and unique body modifications, has previously showcased numerous tattoos, including a red, alien-inspired piece that covers her entire right leg. This striking work was created by tattoo artist Daniela (@caidasindesamparo).
Back in 2022, Grimes shared a list of her dream body modifications, which included vampire teeth and elf ears. She expressed her excitement for the future, stating, “These next few years will be spent doing [all] my dream body mods.” Now, it seems she has checked “face tattoo” off that list.
Sharing a selfie on Instagram, Grimes wrote, “Spent like ten years emotionally working up to a face tattoo but I guess I drew on my face too much and literally no one noticed, not even my parents, not even after the video lol.” The video she referenced is the recently released music video for her song “Artificial Angels,” which debuted earlier this week.
Grimes also praised tattoo artist @glyphomancer for her innovative work on face tattoos. She commented, “That said I think @glyphomancer is onto something truly novel and innovative with her work esp on face tats—there’s a true beauty, delicacy, and innovation here imo.” She added, “Feel like tats are in a crazy renaissance period that’s sort of underappreciated atm.”
To share the new tattoo without any makeup blurring the ink, Grimes posted a raw photo, explaining, “Excuse the insane pic had to find one without makeup so there wasn’t any [blur of the ink].”
While many fans admired Grimes’ latest look, some commenters were quick to dismiss the face tattoo or voice their criticisms. Nevertheless, this new addition marks another chapter in the artist’s ongoing journey of self-expression and body art innovation.
