**Norman Powell Shines as Miami Heat Secure Big Win Over New York Knicks**
MIAMI — The Miami Heat picked up a significant 115-107 victory over the New York Knicks, highlighted by an impressive performance from newcomer Norman Powell. Powell has quickly made an impact in Miami, delivering a strong start with his latest team.
After an explosive debut for the Heat in the opening loss against the Orlando Magic, followed by a solid outing against the Memphis Grizzlies, Powell’s comfort level on the court seems surprisingly high for just his third regular-season game with the new squad.
In Miami’s home opener against the Knicks, Powell led the team with 29 points, shooting seven of 15 from the field and three of six from beyond the arc. He also went 12-for-12 from the free-throw line, contributing seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. His all-around performance was a key factor in the team’s impressive victory.
Despite the standout stats, Powell emphasized his strong chemistry with the team. Speaking to ClutchPoints, he said, “I’ve felt comfortable since day one” and described himself as “super low maintenance.”
Powell also credited his adaptability to being a “student of the game.”
“I work really hard on my game, and I feel like, honestly, what makes the transition so easy with any of my roles on new teams is that I’ve been in every single role before, so I’m prepared,” Powell explained. “I watch, I study. I watch opposing teams. I watched this team a lot even before I was on it because I love the game of basketball.”
He continued, “I work really hard, so the game becomes easy when you’re anticipating what the opposing team is going to do, how they’re going to guard you, and where your spots are going to be.”
**Powell Adapting Seamlessly to Heat’s Up-Tempo Style**
One of Powell’s strongest attributes so far has been his ability to adapt to Miami’s fast-paced offensive style. The Heat thrive on quick transitions and pushing the tempo, a style Powell embraced in Sunday’s game against the Knicks.
Although the Knicks initially slowed down Miami’s pace in the first quarter, the Heat regained control and sped the game up as it progressed. Powell was instrumental in creating quick scoring opportunities but also played a crucial role in slowing down the game when necessary, as evidenced by his 12 made free throws.
Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra praised Powell’s craftiness and ability to draw fouls against a tough defensive opponent.
“He’s a crafty, veteran, skilled offensive talent,” Spoelstra said. “That is a very good defensive team. If you’re just trying to run normal actions, they’ve got great wing defenders who blow up screens and prevent you from coming off them. So, Powell just finds ways to get into a bunch of random situations. Those guys are the hardest to scout and scheme for.”
Spoelstra added, “He had some points in transition, some on broken plays, and some where he just created something out of nothing. That’s a credit to his skill level. He’s spent a lot of time working on his craft, managing great defenders and great defenses. His ability to get to the free throw line or draw fouls on some of his threes really helps him get going as well.”
**Looking Ahead**
Powell and the Heat aim to keep their winning streak alive as Miami prepares to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night. With Powell’s seamless integration and consistent performances, the Heat’s future looks bright.
