The Browns are bracing for the possibility of being without rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger for an extended period. Schwesinger exited Sunday’s loss to the Patriots in the fourth quarter due to an ankle injury.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the injury is believed to be a high-ankle sprain. Schwesinger was seen leaving the locker room wearing a walking boot and is scheduled to undergo an MRI to confirm the diagnosis.
If the high-ankle sprain is confirmed, Schwesinger is expected to miss some time as he recovers. The second-round pick was having a strong season, recording five tackles and an interception before Sunday’s injury. In the first seven weeks of the season, he totaled 59 tackles and one sack.
