Drew McIntyre played mind games with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes today ahead of their highly anticipated title match. The American Nightmare will be defending his championship against McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend.

The Scottish Warrior took to his Instagram story to share a video of himself working out his biceps, with “Kingdom” by Downstait—Rhodes’ theme song—playing in the background. You can check out McIntyre’s cryptic update in the image below.

Earlier this month on SmackDown, McIntyre was scheduled to face Jacob Fatu in a number-one contender’s match. However, Fatu was attacked backstage before the match could take place, which led to a brawl between Rhodes and McIntyre.

Last month at Wrestlepalooza 2025, Rhodes defeated McIntyre in the main event to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship, setting the stage for another epic clash this weekend.

### Former WWE Writer Claims Triple H Is Jealous of Drew McIntyre

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo recently suggested that Triple H harbors jealousy towards Drew McIntyre behind the scenes. Speaking on Sportskeeda’s *The Wrestling Outlaws* show, Russo explained the challenges a former wrestler faces when taking on the head of creative role.

He speculated that Triple H might be jealous of McIntyre’s success in the ring and that it’s emotionally difficult for him not to perform anymore. Russo said:

> “This is why I say you can’t be one of the boys, and write and book and be creative. Because Chris, how do we know, how do we know part of the issue is Triple H isn’t jealous of Drew McIntyre? Come on, Chris, you and I both know, you don’t think it’s not killing Triple H that he can’t work anymore? You don’t think that’s not killing him inside?”

You can watch Russo’s full comments in the video below.

### The Road So Far

At WWE WrestleMania XL, McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship. However, his reign was short-lived as Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract minutes later to claim the title.

This weekend’s showdown against Rhodes offers McIntyre another chance to reclaim glory and become the Undisputed WWE Champion. Will the Scottish Warrior overcome the odds and dethrone the American Nightmare? Be sure to tune in to Saturday Night’s Main Event to find out.
