Wizards of the Coast recently rolled out two new sets for Dungeons & Dragons: the Starter Set and Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club. I received both sets and had the chance to review them in the latest episode of *Pop! Goes the Culture!*.

In the review segment, which has been clipped below, I discuss both the Starter Set and the Hellfire Club set in detail.

The Starter Set essentially transforms D&D into a more conventional tabletop game. It lowers the barrier of entry like never before by offering pre-made characters, cards for common spells and items, and multiple maps. This makes it easier for new players to jump right in without needing extensive preparation.

Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club takes a similar approach, but with a Stranger Things twist—or more specifically, an 80s theme. It features character sheets based on the characters portrayed in the Netflix show, as well as a map inspired by the world from their campaign.

Additionally, the set introduces new monsters, such as the Demogorgon Dragon, enhancing the gameplay experience. The entire package is presented in a vintage 80s aesthetic, giving D&D 5th Edition a nostalgic, retro feel that fans of both the game and the show are sure to appreciate.
