Dave Reardon and Mark Rolfing know lots about golf, but they know nothing about water (“Rolfing calls losing Sentry ‘dire’ to future of golf in Hawaii,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 26). When billionaires meet with the governor behind closed doors, they cannot expect to solve the water shortage that plagues West Maui.
Excluding Native Hawaiians and environmentalists from decision-making processes about water, a resource owned by the public, will lead to litigation. Seeing the water issue through the lens of golf is a recipe for disaster. Draining our streams dry is not an option.
