Jessica Simpson Gets Revenge for Botched Plastic Surgery and a Cheating Ex in Hulu’s “All’s Fair”
Jessica Simpson made a striking return to acting in Ryan Murphy’s latest drama, Hulu’s “All’s Fair,” portraying a compelling love story that appears inspired by the notorious romance between Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson.
In the episode that premiered on Tuesday, the fashion designer and singer, 45, shared her character’s tumultuous journey. “We’ve been married almost 3 years. I knew he had had one affair probably more. So when he had told me to get plastic surgery, I couldn’t say no,” Simpson revealed. Her character’s botched surgery is then dramatically shown on screen as she explains how “my marriage was at stake.”
Viewers are taken back in time through flashbacks, where Simpson’s character falls in love with a rock musician at a concert. The fictional couple’s passionate relationship takes a dark turn when the rock star insists she undergo plastic surgery after turning 40. Following the botched procedure, she later triumphs in a legal battle stemming from the ordeal.
The storyline intensifies as Simpson’s character takes revenge on her cheating ex by dousing him in sulfuric acid after catching him on a date with a younger woman.
Simpson previously teased her dramatic transformation for the role in May. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she revealed undergoing “eight hours of prosthetics” for the “very intense” role, according to Deadline.
In “All’s Fair,” Simpson appears as a new client of an all-female law firm led by notable characters such as Allura Grant (Kim Kardashian), Emerald Greene (Niecy Nash), Dina Standish (Glenn Close), Liberty Ronson (Naomi Watts), and Milan (Teyana Taylor). The series follows “a team of female divorce attorneys [who] leave a male-dominated firm to open their own powerhouse practice,” per the official synopsis.
Simpson’s onscreen narrative comes amid her own real-life challenges. She is currently navigating her split from estranged husband Eric Johnson after 10 years of marriage. The “Dukes of Hazzard” actress announced their separation in January, describing it as “a painful situation” for the family.
She expressed, “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family,” in a statement shared with People.
Alongside managing the fallout of her marriage, Simpson is also making a musical comeback after a 15-year hiatus. In January, a source told Page Six that the singer was channeling her heartbreak into new music. “Jessica has been working on new music for a while, but with everything going on now, she feels it’s the perfect time to go full force with it,” the insider shared.
“She’s always journaling, and a few entries have evolved into songs about heartbreak and resilience. It’s been a very creative, albeit heartbreaking, time for her.”
In March, Simpson released “Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1,” followed by “Nashville Canyon, Pt. 2” in September, marking a powerful return to the music scene.
