Vast amounts of foreign money are pouring into America to shape public discourse on a hotbed issue in an unprecedented manner, a new report states.

“[F]ive foreign charities have donated just shy of $2 billion into various American nonprofits and policy advocacy groups focused on climate change and political activism,” an October 31 paper released by conservative-leaning watchdog group Americans for Public Trust (APT) reveals.

The findings add fuel to the arguments of critics who have long insisted that the global warming “consensus” in Western societies is an artificial construct.

“Quadrature Climate Foundation, KR Foundation, Oak Foundation, Laudes Foundation, and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation have quietly funneled almost $2 billion into US policy fights, litigation, research, protests, lobbying, and the nonprofit sector to advance their extreme, foreign, activist agenda,” the report reads.

A billion here and a billion there sure can “settle” a “science” pretty fast. Americans have every right to wonder how these foreign operators are getting away with it. Aren’t there laws to prevent such meddling in US domestic affairs?

### Legal Loopholes Allow Foreign Influence

“There are very few legal restrictions preventing foreign money from influencing areas outside of elections,” APT explains.

“Many election-related activities (nonpartisan get-out-the-vote campaigns, issue advertising, voter registration, etc.) can be financed with foreign dollars,” the report continues.

“Various policy and lobbying efforts may also be foreign funded, even though electioneering cannot. The line between regulated electoral activity (illegal to use foreign money) and unregulated issue activity (typically legal to use foreign money) is nearly indistinguishable to the average American.”

### Foreign Cash to Squelch Your Opinion

A detailed breakdown of the organizations involved is contained in the full APT report, which can be seen [here](#). Here, we focus on just one of the named groups to illustrate how the game works.

“Since [its] founding in December 2014, KR Foundation has quietly spent over $36 million to shape US policy,” APT states.

The Copenhagen, Denmark-based operation “has had a significant hand in American energy policy by funding everything from climate litigation to US climate protests to pushing back against pro-energy legislation passed on the state level,” the report notes.

The Danish group represents an extreme plank of the climate change activist camp.

“KR Foundation supports car-free travel and commuting, living close to work and in smaller living spaces, weather-dependent grid electricity, vegetarian and vegan diets, and substituting plant-based options in place of dairy products and red meat in the name of combating climate change,” conservative watchdog website Influence Watch reports.

“Inside Philanthropy states that the KR Foundation awards grants ‘to risky projects that have the potential for transformative and systemic change,’” the investigative site’s dossier on KR reads.

“Supporting a rapid phase-out of fossil fuels,” is the banner headline that greets visitors to the KR Foundation website.

### Censorship as a Core Function

Enabling sweeping censorship of opposing viewpoints is also a key function of the organization.

KR gave a $213,560 (in US dollars) grant to the Center For Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), a UK-based group that has been active in the US, to fund activities from 2022 through 2024.

“Misinformation about climate change is widespread on digital platforms,” KR writes in explaining its funding of CCDH.

The Center maps “who is spreading climate misinformation, presenting big tech platforms with evidence of the scope of the problem (and presenting solutions), and by educating key NGOs on best practice on countering misinformation.”

### Coordinated Efforts to Censor Americans

In October 2024, America First Legal Foundation reported that CCDH appears “to have engaged in coordinated efforts to censor American citizens’ speech and [is] part of a foreign influence operation to interfere with US elections.”

America First laid out the scheme in a way that should be deeply disturbing to the citizens of this nation:

“On March 24, 2021, the CCDH published a report labeling a group of influential COVID-19 lockdown critics as ‘the Disinformation Dozen,’ explicitly calling for these Americans, including Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to be de-platformed. After the CCDH report, twelve attorney generals, all Democrats, sent a letter on the same day to the CEOs of Twitter and Facebook citing the CCDH report, seeking to censor the views of those American citizens.”

This is precisely the kind of highly coordinated action KR would like to see applied to the climate change cause in America today.

“CCDH has a strong track record in this field. Their previous report, The Toxic Ten, identified ten websites as the main producers of climate change skepticism on social media platforms,” KR gushes on its CCDH grant page.

“They calculated that these ‘Toxic Ten’ were responsible for up to 69% of Facebook users’ interactions with climate change denial. This knowledge has since been leveraged by numerous other organizations in the disinformation space to apply pressure to Big Tech to change their policies and practices.”

### Buying Influence in Big Media

Purchasing favorable Big Media coverage is another vital part of the action plan.

In 2022, the KR Foundation bestowed a hefty $300,000 grant on the Associated Press (AP) to support its “Global Scholars Network.”

The once-respected wire service has devoted an inordinate amount of attention in recent years to “reporting” on the global warming narrative in a manner perfectly in keeping with KR’s ideology.

“How did humans get to the brink of crashing climate?” an alarmist November 2023 AP feature article’s headline asks.

“Doctors say ‘fossil fuel addiction’ kills, starves millions,” a December 2022 AP headline screams.

### The Untold Story of Foreign Influence

This is the untold story about who the real “foreign influencers” are in the US today.

A money-soaked progressive ruling establishment wants Americans to obsess about alleged Russian bots on social media “steering” opinions on presidential elections while billions of foreign dollars go toward buying big media platforms, controlling elected US officials, and methodically censoring the free speech rights of citizens right here at home.
