**Neha Kakkar’s Name Misused in Rs 5 Lakh Investment Scam; FIR Filed at Worli Police Station**
According to an FIR registered at the Worli police station, Advocate Shabnam Mohammad Hussain Syed uncovered a fraudulent scheme involving fake articles and videos that falsely linked singer Neha Kakkar to an investment platform called FXOnet. These scammers portrayed the platform as “trusted and legal,” using Kakkar’s image to lend credibility to their deceptive operation.
Syed, a resident of BDD Chawl in Worli, was initially attracted by these fraudulent promotions and engaged with individuals who introduced themselves as Vijay and later Jimmy D’Souza. Communication was primarily maintained through international phone numbers, the Telegram messaging app (user ID: @fxonetlbot), and Zoom meetings, lending an air of authenticity to the scam.
The accused provided supposed investment “tips” and assisted Syed in opening an FXOnet trading account. Between June 18 and October 9, 2025, Syed transferred a total of Rs 5,02,025 via UPI to various bank accounts linked to entities including Rajesh Kannan, VPI ProMedia Kigali, India Impex Trading Company, and VPI 361 VPECOM.
When Syed failed to receive the promised returns or a refund, she realized she had been deceived and promptly filed a police complaint.
**Police Action and Investigation**
The Mumbai Police have booked the accused under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act (IT Act). Investigators are currently gathering digital evidence such as Telegram chat records, Zoom call details, and transaction histories to trace and apprehend the culprits behind the scam.
**Celebrity Impersonation in Financial Frauds**
This is not an isolated incident of fraudsters exploiting celebrity identities. Previously, Mumbai Police registered another complaint involving a scammer impersonating Hollywood star Keanu Reeves to swindle a 69-year-old woman out of Rs 65,000.
