Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is just days away from taking players to the undersea world of Bikini Bottom. But Sega and Sonic Team aren’t stopping there—there’s more exciting content coming in the game’s first season pass.
During Tuesday’s PlayStation State of Play Japan, several classic Sega characters were revealed for upcoming updates. Longtime Sega fans will recognize NiGHTS, the lead character from the Sega Saturn cult classic *NiGHTS Into Dreams*. NiGHTS will join the race in his Dream Sleeper vehicle starting this December.
Following NiGHTS, AiAi from the *Super Monkey Ball* series will take the wheel in January 2026, bringing his unique style to the tracks. Then, in February 2026, two characters from Sonic’s comic book universe—Tangle and Whisper—will become playable racers, adding more diversity and excitement to the lineup.
Best of all, all the characters mentioned above will be added to *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* for free on their release dates.
As for premium downloadable content, the next part of the CrossWorlds Season Pass centers around the beloved Nickelodeon series *SpongeBob SquarePants*. First teased during June’s Kids’ Choice Awards, the SpongeBob pack will include SpongeBob and Patrick as playable racers, the Patty Wagon vehicle, the Bikini Bottom Course, themed music tracks, and six new emotes.
The SpongeBob pack now has a confirmed release date: Wednesday, November 19, at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET.
