**Woman Leads Police on 155-Mile Chase from Ventura County to U.S.-Mexico Border**

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A woman led law enforcement on a high-speed chase Monday afternoon, driving from Ventura County all the way to the U.S.-Mexico border before crossing into Mexico, officials reported.

The driver was identified as 29-year-old Alyssa Wilson of Simi Valley. According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Wilson allegedly stole a minivan from a sober living home located in the 1900 block of East Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.

Deputies spotted the stolen minivan in Simi Valley and attempted a traffic stop. However, Wilson fled the scene, entering the 118 Freeway and reaching speeds up to 90 mph. The chase was first reported around 11:15 a.m. in the Sherman Oaks area and continued through multiple counties.

When Wilson merged onto the 405 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) took over pursuit. Officials revealed that she was experiencing a mental health crisis and had taken the minivan from her mother, who notified the CHP.

Throughout the pursuit, Wilson remained mostly on the southbound 405 Freeway, passing through Orange County before transitioning onto the southbound 5 Freeway heading into San Diego County. She then merged onto the southbound 805 Freeway and reached the U.S.-Mexico border crossing near 1:30 p.m.

The CHP called off the chase shortly before 1:30 p.m., just after Wilson crossed into Mexico.

During the chase, authorities attempted to deploy at least four spike strips to stop the vehicle, but these efforts were unsuccessful as Wilson managed to swerve around them. In one instance, officers stopped traffic on the 5 Freeway in the Oceanside area to deploy a spike strip, but it did not deploy correctly.

In total, Wilson drove approximately 155 miles, traveling from the San Fernando Valley to the border in just over two hours. Despite the high speed, she rarely encountered heavy traffic or reached extreme speeds.

It remains unclear whether Mexican authorities will cooperate with U.S. police to take Wilson into custody.
