The Miami Hurricanes dominated the NC State Wolfpack today at Hard Rock Stadium, securing a convincing 41-7 victory.
Miami quarterback Carson Beck had an efficient performance, completing 21 of 27 passes for 291 yards, throwing three touchdowns and committing no turnovers. Leading the rushing attack, Girard Pringle carried the ball 17 times for 116 yards. Freshman wide receiver Malachi Toney continued to impress with five receptions for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side, NC State quarterback CJ Bailey went 17-for-30 passing for 120 yards but struggled with two interceptions. Bailey was also the Wolfpack’s leading rusher with 17 yards and added a late touchdown run.
The game started strong for the Hurricanes. Miami forced an initial punt and answered with a 31-yard field goal by Carter Davis on their first offensive drive. After exchanging punts, Miami safety Jakobe Thomas made a huge impact with a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown off a telegraphed pass by CJ Bailey. Thomas didn’t stop there—he picked off Bailey a second time later in the first quarter.
Miami continued to roll in the second quarter, adding 14 more points. Setting up the first touchdown of the period, wide receiver Malachi Toney threw a 44-yard pass to fellow receiver Jojo Trader. Running back CharMar Brown finished off the drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Following NC State’s fifth punt of the half, Miami’s offense went to work again. Brown rushed four times for 23 yards, Keelan Marion hauled in three receptions for 29 yards, and Toney caught a beautiful 14-yard touchdown pass from Beck to push the lead to 24-0 at halftime.
The Hurricanes came out strong in the second half with an eight-play, 85-yard scoring drive. Tight end Elijah Lofton caught his first touchdown of the season on a perfectly thrown 29-yard touchdown pass from Beck. Miami further extended their advantage after Carter Davis drilled a 38-yard field goal, his second of the game, making it 34-0.
NC State struggled offensively all night, failing to run a play in Miami territory through three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Beck and Toney connected one more time for a 15-yard touchdown pass. The Wolfpack avoided the shutout as CJ Bailey scored on a 10-yard scramble late in the game.
Miami finished the day with an impressive 581 yards of total offense, including 367 passing yards. NC State was held to just 149 total yards, with only 29 yards on the ground.
Up next, Miami travels to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech next Saturday; kickoff time is to be determined. NC State will host Florida State on Friday night, November 21st, at 8:00 PM EST on ESPN.
