The Washington Commanders fell to 3-7 after a Week 10 loss to the Detroit Lions, marking the team’s fifth-straight defeat following a promising 3-2 start to the season. However, the loss wasn’t the only setback for Washington during the game.

Star defensive tackle Daron Payne was ejected after punching Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Notably, St. Brown was later fined by the NFL after video surfaced showing him punching Payne just a few plays earlier. Payne eventually received a one-game suspension for his actions on the field, but he wasn’t the only Commanders player to face NFL discipline following the contest.

In other NFL news, Commanders player Kaho was fined $46,371 for “use of helmet” during a special teams play in which he suffered a concussion. This information was reported by Commanders reporter Nicki Jhabvala.

Commanders reporter Ben Standig highlighted the substantial fine, noting it’s nearly equivalent to a full game check for Kaho, who had previously been fined for the same offense in Week 4. “Kaho’s salary is $840,000. That breaks down to $46,667 weekly over 18 weeks. This means this UDFA earned just $296 (pre-tax) last week,” Standig explained, sparking outrage among Commanders fans.

Many fans expressed frustration over the fine structure, suggesting that penalties should be based on a percentage of a player’s salary rather than a fixed amount. One fan commented, “Fines should be done by percentage of your salary, that’s ridiculous,” a sentiment echoed repeatedly by disgruntled supporters.

Another fan questioned the fairness of the fine: “I always thought the NFL penalty system took into account the player’s salary before handing down fines. But I guess not? What did he actually do to deserve that amount?” A third fan added, “I always thought they should use percentages on these fines.”

Adding to Washington’s troubles, Kaho was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, continuing the team’s challenging week both on and off the field.
