The city of Tarkov is home to many mysteries. Some of them remain unexplained, but the Escape From Tarkov Falling Skies quest gives you a chance to uncover what happened to the crashed private jet in the Priozersk Natural Reserve. Falling Skies is part of the game’s main storyline, introduced with update 1. 0, but while the quest is new, the mechanics are going to feel fairly familiar to any Tarkov veteran: go here, grab this, bring it to the trader, rinse and repeat. The hard part is figuring out where to find what, but that’s what this guide is for. Toward the latter stages, this quest allows you to make choices that influence your end-game, so have a long, hard think about it before you go clicking dialogue options at random. How to Unlock the Falling Skies Quest To unlock the Falling Skies quest, you need to find the private jet that crashed somewhere in the Woods map. This area will be familiar to you if you’ve completed Mechanic’s Introduction quest that unlocks Jaeger. Better get used to getting here, because this quest loves to send you back time and again to collect things from the wreckage. The plane went down on the eastern half of the map, between the Old Sawmill and the EMERCOM camp. The easiest way to find the crash site is to approach it from the Old Sawmill direction (northeast). Walk along the crest marked by two rocks (blue line on the map) while looking southwest, and you’ll eventually find a gap in the trees with a big fat plane. Its wake of destruction is marked on the map in orange. If approaching from any other direction, look around for felled trees, as the jet took quite a few of them down during the crash. Ask the Traders About the Fallen Plane The next step involves asking around for information. Traders in Tarkov are not exactly the most generous people, so gear up for performing thankless tasks to get the information you need. Prapor will tell you about a flash drive containing relevant information. Since the downed airplane is related to TerraGroup, the information is said to be in one of the G-Wagons the company used to move people and troops around Tarkov. Naturally, the problem you’ll run into is that there are dozens of black cars scattered around the city maps. If you want to get some accurate information, talk to Therapist. She will tell you that an informant of hers can help, for the ‘modest’ sum of $2000. To get that sum, you need to progress Skier’s part of the Tour to trade with Peacekeeper. He will buy weapons, attachments, body armor, and information items like SSD drives for dollars. However, if you don’t want to burn $2000 to get one single hint, I can give the info to you for free. Retrieve the Flash Drive The USB drive in question is located on the southwestern edge of the Shoreline map, right next to the Collapsed Tunnel extract. The in-game Shoreline paper maps are oriented ‘upside down’, with north at the bottom of the map. I have rotated the map to have north on top so you can use the compass properly. Since this objective is located by the shore, finding it is easy: get to the beach, then walk along it heading west until you run out of map. You can use the small fishing islet as a landmark, as the USB drive is located just past it. The Collapsed Tunnel area hosts a couple of scavs and a flurry of abandoned vehicles, including ambulances, fire engines, but most importantly, the black G-Wagon you are after. The USB drive is lying on the left side of the car, by the driver’s door. Watch for extract campers to your left on the way out. Find and Stash the Flight Recorder Based on the information on the USB drive, Prapor will then tell you to find the aircraft’s black box, as it is the best shot at figuring out what caused the jet to crash. However, you won’t be delivering this directly to the trader this time. Prapor has struck a deal with tech expert Elektronik to help decode the flight recorder. Your job is to pick it up and leave it at the assigned drop-off point in the Shoreline map. Finding the Flight Recorder Fortunately, the plane’s flight recorder has not strayed far from the crash site, so all you need to do is head to the Woods and pick it up from the wreckage. The black box is lying on the ground under a crack in the plane’s fuselage. Pick it up, extract, and gear up for a trip to Shoreline. Where to Stash the Flight Recorder With the recorder still in your task inventory, get to Shoreline and head to the southwest end of the map. The dropoff point is a derelict fishing cabin on the islet near the Collapsed Tunnel extract. Get across the beached ship that acts as a bridge, clear the area of scavs, then head inside the cabin to the right. Once inside, take a left, then turn right to find the room with the missing wall facing the ocean. Hold F to stash the item once the PLACE prompt appears, and leave once that is complete. Find the Materials for Prapor After Eleketronik picks up the flight recorder, you will run into a problem: the tech wizard does not have the appropriate equipment to decode the black box, and Prapor is not willing to supply it himself since his stuff is ‘reserved’. Naturally, the task falls to you to locate the following items in raid: 2 toolsets 3 rechargeable batteries 5 printed circuit boards If you have your Level 1 Workbench set up in your hideout, you can craft the toolsets and PCBs there. PCB Crafting Recipe Find the Flight Crew Transcript and Secure Flash Drive After you deliver the materials, Prapor will tell you to wait a long time. This seems to take at least 24 hours, but the game may not notify you properly that the wait is over next time you visit Prapor. To check if you can continue with the quest, head to the Task section, select Falling Skies, and see if the following objectives are listed: Hand over the flight crew’s transcript to Prapor Hand over Elektronik’s secure flash drive to Prapor Both items are located in the Chairman’s House on the Shoreline map. This is an isolated house on the northwestern corner of the map, near the swamp village and the Path to Lighthouse extract. Upon entering the house, go to the room on the left. The flight crew’s transcript is nested under a moldy mattress on the floor. The secure flash drive is in the far right corner of the room, on the small stand with a broken plate on top. After you’ve collected both items, you can safely run to Path to Lighthouse for a quick extract. Retrieve the Armored Case The last piece of the Falling Skies puzzle is an armored case that was being flown out of Tarkov aboard the plane when it was shot down. Prapor and the quest item suggest the case fell out of the plane and is somewhere around the Woods map, but in reality, it is safely tucked in behind the cockpit, so you don’t have to go running around. Go to the Woods map and visit the plane one last time. Climb the airstairs and look at the floor right behind the cockpit. The case is camouflaged under some dust and debris. Extract with it, then be ready to make a choice. Should You Give the Armored Case to Prapor? Once you approach Prapor about the armored case, you have three choices. You can hand it over, say you’re keeping it to yourself, or lie that you did not find it. Working with Prapor nets you a million roubles and keeps you in good standing with him, but you will have to answer to the mysterious Mr. Kerman in the next quest. If you keep the case for yourself, you will lose 0. 3 trader rep with Prapor, which effectively kills your access to Soviet and Russian military gear until you make that back.
