First Team
Alba Antuñez Pérez, Spanish River Junior: Alba began the season running a 21-minute time trial and improved remarkably to an 18:04.50 personal record at the FSU Invitational/Pre-State meet. She took first place overall in her age group at an international meet in Regensburg, Germany. Throughout the season, Alba finished third in county, second in districts, fifth at regionals, and sixth at state. Additionally, she placed second in the city championships and third at the Spanish River Invitational.
Julia D’Emic, Spanish River Sophomore: A former soccer player, Julia clocked a 19:16.90 time placing fifth at the Spanish River Invitational. She finished fifth at city championships, ninth at county and district meets, and 20th at regionals. Julia ran a 19:02.20 last year and took 50th at state, helping the Sharks to a state runner-up finish.
Barbarita Jedlicka, St. John Paul II Freshman: Barbarita set a personal best with a 19:04.80 while taking third at the 2A regional meet. She won the city championship, finished sixth at county, fifth at district, and 21st at the state championship. She was awarded the Best Young Runner Award at the Spanish River Invitational after finishing third and placed second at the King’s Academy Invite.
Lailani Levy, Spanish River Freshman: Lailani is the school-record holder for the 5K, with an impressive time of 17:46.87 at the New Balance Runninglane Championships, where she placed 24th. She received the Best Young Runner Award at the Spanish River Invitational and finished 11th at state, fourth at city, second at county, fourth at district, and seventh at regionals.
Makaela Morilla, Spanish River Freshman: Makaela contributed significantly to Spanish River’s victories in Palm Beach County, districts, regionals, and their runner-up finish at state. Last year, she took 5th in the 800m at FLYRA Middle School States. This season, she placed 10th at county, fifth at districts, 16th at regionals, and 21st at state. Makaela ran a personal record of 19:08.00 at the FSU Invitational/Pre-State meet.
Geneveve Storey, Boca Raton Senior: A four-year varsity runner and co-captain, Geneveve ran a personal record of 19:03.90 at the FSU Invitational/Pre-State meet. She placed fifth at county, eighth at districts, 12th at regionals, and 26th at state. She expressed pride in attaining her goal of running in the low 19s and qualifying for states three out of four years as part of a team.
Kirsten Maarsingh, Wellington Senior: Kirsten ran a personal best of 18:21.80 to place fourth at the 4A regional meet. After not qualifying last year, she took 12th at state this season. Kirsten also placed third at districts, fourth at county, ninth at the FLRUNNERS.COM Invitational, and sixth at the Spanish River Invitational.
