The Monsters concluded their five-game road trip with a 6-2 loss on January 18 at Providence. Cleveland, now holding a 17-14-4-1 record, dropped both games of the weekend series against the Bruins by a combined score of 11-2.
Owen Sillinger scored both of Cleveland’s goals, both coming in the third period after Providence had established a substantial five-goal lead. Sillinger has tallied five goals so far this season.
Despite the loss, the Monsters outshot the Bruins 32-25 but were hampered by seven penalties throughout the game. Zach Sawchenko started in goal for Cleveland, allowing four goals on 13 shots over 26 minutes. Ivan Fedotov took over in goal and made 10 saves for the remainder of the game.
Overall, the Monsters finished their trip with a 2-3 record. Their next game is scheduled for January 21 against Chicago at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
