Boulder City High School boys basketball team split a pair of league games this past week and currently sits in third place in the 3A league standings.
After a tough defeat to The Meadows on January 21, the Eagles bounced back with a strong performance against rival Moapa Valley on January 23. The Eagles defeated the Pirates 63-41, with Tyler Bradshaw sparking the offense early. Bradshaw hit three three-pointers in the first quarter alone and finished the game with six total threes. He scored a game-high 25 points, along with two assists and two steals.
“We got things going early offensively against Moapa,” head coach John Balistere said. “Tyler got hot early and gave us some momentum. It was a really good win for us.”
Adding to the offensive effort, Kason Turner contributed 11 points and four offensive rebounds, while Levi Randall added 10 points and six offensive boards. The Eagles as a team grabbed 14 offensive rebounds, providing valuable second-chance scoring opportunities.
“Rebounding the ball, especially offensively, is really key for us,” Balistere explained. “We’re 12-3 on the season when we out-rebound the other team. We need this level of effort in every game.”
On January 21, the Eagles struggled against undefeated league leader The Meadows, falling behind early in a 59-30 loss at home. “The Meadows are a really good team,” Balistere noted. “Besides Fernley from up north, it’s really going to take a team’s best effort to beat them.”
Leading the effort for Boulder City in that game were Randall, who scored eight points with three rebounds, and Bradshaw, who added seven points.
Looking ahead, the Eagles aim to stay near the top of the standings with a challenging road game against rival Virgin Valley on Friday, followed by a home matchup against Green Valley Christian on Wednesday.
