**Navi Mumbai Municipal Cup State Volleyball Championship 2024-25 Concludes with Enthralling Action**

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), in collaboration with the Maharashtra Volleyball Association, successfully organized the ‘Navi Mumbai Municipal Cup State Volleyball Championship 2024-25’ from March 21 to 23. The event was held at the Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil (Modern) College Ground in Sector 16, Vashi, and witnessed intense competition among top volleyball teams from across Maharashtra.

The men’s tournament featured 16 district teams battling it out for the prestigious title. Nagpur emerged as the champions, showcasing dominant performances throughout. In the final match, Nagpur defeated Mumbai Suburban in straight sets with scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-17.

Pune secured the third place, while Mumbai City finished in fourth position. Teams from Sangli, Latur, Akola, and Dharashiv claimed the fifth to eighth ranks respectively, reflecting the depth of volleyball talent in the state.

An official commented, “The championship showcased the high level of talent in Maharashtra’s volleyball circuit, with teams displaying exceptional skills and sportsmanship. The successful execution of the event reinforced Navi Mumbai’s reputation as a premier sporting destination.”

Individual accolades for the men’s division included Nagpur’s Keval Barai being named ‘Man of the Tournament.’ Syed Mubarak from Mumbai Suburban received the ‘Best Attacker’ award, while Hemant Charde of Nagpur secured the ‘Best Setter’ title.

In the women’s division, Pune emerged victorious, defeating Nagpur in a competitive final with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 25-30. Nashik achieved third place, followed by Mumbai in fourth.

Pune’s Mrunal Agarkar was honored as the ‘Woman of the Tournament,’ while Jayashree Thakre from Nagpur was recognized as the ‘Best Attacker.’ Additionally, Pune’s Rashmi Kadam received the ‘Best Setter’ award.

The championship’s closing ceremony saw praise for the seamless organization and excellent arrangements by NMMC, with special mentions from Syed Mubarak and Chief Referee Mr. Purushottam Pant. The event also garnered recognition from Maharashtra Olympic Association officials, including Secretary Namdevrao Shirgaonkar and Arjuna Awardee Smita Shirole.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony attended by dignitaries such as NMMC’s Deputy Commissioner of Sports and Cultural Affairs, Abhilasha Mhatre-Patil; Maharashtra Volleyball Association President Vijaybhau Dangre; and other key officials. Chief Referee Purushottam Pant and Coordinator Shankar Acharekar were also honored for their contributions.

This successful championship highlighted Navi Mumbai’s growing prominence as a hub for sporting excellence and celebrated the remarkable volleyball talent across Maharashtra.
