Upgrading Your Tool Pouch and Crafting Kit in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Your Tool Pouch and Crafting Kit in Silksong determine how many tools you can hold and how much damage they deal. While it’s possible to progress far without upgrading these items, enhancing your Tool Pouch and Crafting Kit will make it significantly easier to take on tougher bosses and challenging sections of the game.

How to Upgrade the Tool Pouch & Crafting Kit
Although the Tool Pouch and Crafting Kit appear as a single item in your inventory, they are upgraded separately in Silksong. These upgrades are scattered across the game world — some must be purchased, others are rewards for completing tasks, and a few require feats of skill to obtain. You can acquire two upgrades for each before finishing Act 1.
How to Upgrade the Tool Pouch
The Tool Pouch can be upgraded up to four times. Each upgrade has a unique unlock requirement:
- Purchase an upgrade from Mort at Pilgrims Rest in the Far Fields
- Complete the Bugs of Pharloom Wish for Nuu at the Halfway House in Greymoor
- Hit 15 targets for Loddie in The Marrow after defeating the Widow
- Find 20 fleas and speak with the caravan master at Fleatopia
How to Upgrade the Crafting Kit
Similarly, the Crafting Kit can also be upgraded four times, with most upgrades purchased from vendors:
- Purchase an upgrade from the Forge Daughter in Deep Docks
- Complete the Crawbug Clearing Wish from Bellhart for Creige in the Halfway House at Greymoor
- Purchase an upgrade from the Twelfth Architect in The Cauldron
- Purchase an upgrade from Grindle in Sands of Karak
Note that Grindle is the name of a prisoner you may free from jail in The Marrow. If you did not free him, you might not find him later in the Sands of Karak.
