Actor-turned-politician and TVK chief Vijay has expressed his deep grief over the tragic stampede that occurred at his rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu. The incident resulted in the loss of 41 lives and left many others injured.

In a heartfelt five-minute video message released on social media, Vijay stated that he has “never faced such a painful situation” in his life. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those wounded in the tragedy.

**Safety Assurances**

Addressing concerns about the rally’s safety measures, Vijay assured the public that all necessary precautions were taken. He explained that his party had sought permission from the police for ten different locations and made sure there was no compromise on people’s safety.

“During the tour, we wanted no compromise on people’s safety. We set aside all political issues and sought permission from the police for such (safe) places,” he stated.

**Response to Criticism**

Vijay also responded to criticism regarding his quick departure from the scene after the stampede. He clarified that he left to avoid causing further panic among the crowd.

“I am human too. How can I leave when so many were affected? I wanted to go back, but that could have led to more untoward incidents,” he explained.

Additionally, Vijay hinted at a possible conspiracy behind the incident, assuring that all truths will come to light soon.

**Vendetta Allegations**

Taking a subtle dig at Chief Minister MK Stalin and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Vijay suggested that the tragedy might be part of a political vendetta ahead of next year’s elections.

“Chief Minister sir, if you have vendetta plans, do anything to me. Don’t touch my leaders,” he said during his video message.

This statement comes in the wake of the recent arrest of his party functionary Mathiyazhagan, who faces charges including attempt to murder and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
