**Russia, Belarus May Stage False Flag Attacks on Poland, Warns Think Tank**

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has issued a stark warning that Russia, in collaboration with Belarus, may be preparing to carry out false flag attacks targeting Poland’s critical infrastructure. The objective, according to the think tank, is to blame Ukraine for these attacks and escalate tensions further.

### Context Behind the Warning

The ISW’s caution is grounded in recent statements from Russian officials and the foreign intelligence service (SVR), who have made unsubstantiated claims that Ukraine plans to attack Poland and Romania. These allegations are reportedly based on sources from Hungary, a country heavily reliant on Russian energy and considered a close Moscow ally.

### Russia Laying the Groundwork for False Flag Operations

On September 30, the SVR issued statements that, according to ISW, serve as “information conditions” designed to enable Russia to falsely blame Ukraine if any attacks occur against Poland or other NATO member states. This suggests a deliberate effort to justify potential aggression by manipulating public perception beforehand.

Further fueling suspicion, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused Ukraine on September 26 of plotting false flag drone strikes in Poland and Romania, amplifying fears of manufactured incidents aimed at provoking conflict.

### Rising Tensions and Airspace Violations

These developments come amid escalating tensions between Russia and NATO countries. Poland, Estonia, and Romania have all reported violations of their airspace by Russian fighter jets and drones in recent weeks.

In a notable incident on September 9, Poland successfully shot down Russian drones flying in its airspace. Similarly, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden have recorded drone sightings near their respective territories, increasing alarms across the region.

### Allegations of Ukrainian Sabotage Plans

Zakharova has also accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of orchestrating sabotage plans intended to create a “casus belli”—a justification for war between Russia and NATO.

According to her statements, Ukraine allegedly intends to recover downed Russian drones, retrofit them with combat warheads, and then launch attacks on major NATO transport hubs while disguising the drones as Russian.

The ISW’s warning highlights a dangerous information campaign that could precede real-world provocations, raising the stakes for NATO-Russia relations and regional security.
