The new documentary *Ozzy: No Escape from Now* offers an intimate look into the late rockstar Ozzy Osbourne’s long and painful battle with severe pain and depression in the years leading up to his death in July 2025.
Filmed between 2021 and 2025, the movie also highlights Ozzy’s struggles with Parkinson’s disease—complications that worsened following neck surgery in 2019.
**Family’s Frustration**
Jack Osbourne, Ozzy’s son, expressed his deep frustration over the surgery that “stripped him of his abilities to move.” Jack said, “It makes me so angry because I felt like all of this could’ve been avoided. The Parkinson’s is progressing, but the main problem is the nerve damage from the bad neck surgery.”
Ozzy’s close friend and guitarist Billy Morrison also shared how difficult it was to witness the singer’s suffering after his touring days had ended.
**Health Decline and Emotional Struggles**
Two years after the 2019 neck surgery, Ozzy began noticing a gradual deterioration in his health. His wife Sharon revealed that the surgeon had caused additional harm by implanting unnecessary metal plates.
“Some days, he wishes he was dead. He’s in so much pain, he can’t take it. He just wishes he could go,” Sharon candidly shared in the documentary.
**Unwavering Career Commitment**
Despite the immense physical and emotional pain, Ozzy remained determined to keep performing. In an emotional moment on camera, he apologized to Sharon for “being a burden” but affirmed his resilience, saying, “I am determined to get back on stage even if I have to be nailed to a board and wheeled on. Survival is my legacy.”
Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 and was laid to rest in Buckinghamshire, England. His legacy as a rock icon and his courageous battle with illness continue to inspire fans worldwide.
