I worked for the federal government for 42 years. After serving for 20 years in the U.S. Army, I transitioned to work as a Department of Defense civilian. During that time, I was fortunate never to go without being paid and was able to earn retirement benefits.
Now, I understand there is a possibility that DOD civilians might not get paid, and even members of the military could face the same issue, due to the ongoing government shutdown. It’s time to stop this political bickering.
Donald Trump has the power to make things right. Meanwhile, Congress continues to get paid, but the people want to get paid, too.
