Services including Apple Music were among the hundreds of websites and apps affected by an outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS). The disruption impacted a wide range of platforms, from Reddit and Disney+ to various banking services and Duolingo.
AWS powers a startling proportion of the internet, and this incident highlights just how dependent many online services are on this single provider. While this isn’t the first time AWS has experienced downtime, it serves as a reminder of the significant impact such outages can have.
As of 5:30 A.M. Eastern, Amazon reported on its status page that affected sites should be returning to normal. However, it remains unclear how long it will take for all apps and websites to be fully operational again.
