In the original Kirby Air Ride, there was a lighthearted and playful mode known as Top Ride. This mode offered players a top-down racing experience reminiscent of classic games like Off Road and Super Off Road. Fans of the series will be excited to learn that Top Ride is making a return in **Kirby Air Riders**, complete with several upgrades designed to make it even more enjoyable for up to eight players.

Top Ride was a major highlight at the start of today’s Kirby Air Riders Nintendo Direct. In this mode, players race around tracks with the camera positioned overhead, offering a unique perspective compared to the main game. The camera can either follow a single player, scan across groups, or zoom out to show the entire track, which is especially useful when many players are competing.

One of the biggest improvements is the ability to have up to eight racers in a single race. You can race solo against seven bots, play with up to four people locally on the same Switch system, or compete online with as many as eight players. Any remaining slots can be filled with computer-controlled bots, ensuring full races every time.

Kirby Air Riders promises to be a compelling party game with multiple gameplay options. Beyond the traditional races found in Air Ride, there’s a battle royale style mode called City Trial, and now Top Ride adds another fun and competitive dimension.

Having had the chance to try early versions of the game, we’re optimistic about how Kirby Air Riders is taking shape. With its variety of modes and multiplayer features, it looks set to offer a fresh and exciting experience for both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
