MANILA, Philippines — Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) has engaged two Chinese contractors for the initial phase of its 49-megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in Toledo, Cebu.

In a media briefing held on Thursday, company officials revealed that MGen had signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL).
