However, these results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.32 per share.
The largest U.S. solar company posted revenue of $1.59 billion in the quarter, also falling short of forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $1.6 billion.
Looking ahead, First Solar expects its full-year earnings to be in the range of $14 to $15 per share, with revenue projected between $4.95 billion and $5.2 billion.
