Hyundai has announced plans to launch an electric vehicle (EV) specifically designed for the Indian market. This upcoming model will be tailored to suit local driving conditions and customer preferences, according to the company.

The new EV will also be supported by a localized supply chain, making EV ownership more accessible and affordable in India. While Hyundai has not revealed major details yet, the model is expected to debut in the coming years.

### Hyundai’s Global EV Strategy

Hyundai is pursuing an aggressive electrification roadmap, focusing on both global and market-specific launches. The company plans to introduce over 18 hybrid models, along with a mid-size pick-up truck targeting North America.

Region-specific EVs, such as the upcoming IONIQ 3 for Europe, are also part of this strategy. Alongside these global initiatives, Hyundai is developing a model specifically designed for Indian conditions and buyer preferences, emphasizing its commitment to local markets.

### India’s Role in Hyundai’s Production Plans

India is set to play a crucial role in Hyundai’s global production strategy. The Pune manufacturing facility is expected to produce 2.5 lakh units by 2030. This is part of a larger effort to increase Hyundai’s total production capacity to 12 lakh units worldwide.

Hyundai aims to achieve global vehicle sales of 55.5 lakh units by 2030, with electrified models making up a significant portion of this target. The company anticipates that around 60% of its total sales—approximately 33 lakh vehicles—will be electrified by then.

With the launch of an India-specific EV, Hyundai is strengthening its foothold in the growing Indian electric vehicle market while aligning with its global electrification goals.
