A Georgia mom couldn’t help but laugh after realizing what was written on the T-shirt her 15-year-old daughter wore to school.

In a video posted to TikTok under the handle @wickedlywhimsical, a working mom who asked to be identified simply as Krys shared a picture of how her daughter was dressed that day.

“I am up and out the door by 3:30 a.m. for work every morning. My husband gets the kids up and on the bus, and she was wearing a hoodie, so he didn’t see it,” Krys told Newsweek.

It wasn’t until Krys came to pick her daughter up later that day and took a closer look that she realized what had happened.

It’s not uncommon for teenagers to use clothes as a means to rebel against their parents. However, these acts of rebellion may indicate something more profound.

In 2015, a study published in the journal *Social Neuroscience* concluded that teenage rebellion is a sign of teens separating from their parents as part of the transition into adulthood. Researchers used Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans to track the brain activity of 22 teens aged 16 to 18 while they watched videos of other teens and clips of their parents.

They found that teens who reported engaging in more risky behaviors responded more strongly to videos of other teens. Specifically, researchers identified a spike of activity in the precuneus area of the brain, which is thought to control awareness about the thoughts and behaviors of others.

Out of context, the T-shirt Krys’s daughter wore that day may have appeared as an act of rebellion. As shown in the picture posted to TikTok, the 15-year-old wore a T-shirt with the words:

“If you read all of this shirt you will find out that I’m pregnant.”

To be clear, Krys’s daughter is not pregnant. More importantly, wearing that particular T-shirt was not an act of rebellion — just a hilarious mix-up.

“It was my youngest sister’s pregnancy announcement shirt,” Krys explained. “It was supposed to be in the bag of clothes to donate and somehow ended up in the bag of clothes she gave my 15-year-old.”

Though Krys was “shocked” to see her daughter wearing it, she was also “humored by the fact that she didn’t read the shirt before wearing it.”

She admits to taking some responsibility for the mix-up as well: “I didn’t go through the bag of clothes my little sister gave her because this has never happened before.”

Thankfully, everyone involved was able to see the funny side of what happened.

However, Krys is now planning to keep a close eye on whatever clothes her sister passes on in the future — just in case.
