Chrysler is recalling more than 320,000 Jeep plug-in hybrid vehicles due to a faulty battery that can fail and potentially lead to a fire, U.S. traffic safety regulators announced.
The recall affects 228,221 Jeep Wranglers from model years 2020 through 2025, as well as 91,844 Jeep Grand Cherokees from model years 2022 through 2026. Chrysler, owned by Netherlands-based Stellantis, is aware of 19 reports and one injury that may be related to this issue.
Owners of the affected vehicles are being advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until a permanent remedy is determined. Additionally, vehicle owners are instructed not to charge their vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Interim notification letters are expected to be mailed to vehicle owners by December 2, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy becomes available. The recall is identified as number 68C. Owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 for more information.
Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for this recall will be searchable on the NHTSA website beginning November 6, 2025.
It is important to note that vehicles previously recalled for the same battery issue will need to have the new remedy performed as well.
The batteries in question were manufactured by Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Samsung SDI America.
